Hey y’all! It’s been a long day, but a great one! Sophie Rose entered the world at 3:18 this afternoon! She weighs 7 pounds, 11 ounces (easy to remember, right?), and has a FULL head of dark hair! She’s beautiful…not that her favorite aunt is biased, or anything.
Katherine started having pretty intense labor pains and got an epidural around 11:30, and by 2:30 they were ready to start pushing! All in all, everything went really well…it ALMOST makes having a baby look easy…almost.
Around noon, we took a quick trip to Sunshine for some lunch, where I got a veggie burger with avocado (which I forgot to photograph until I was about a third of my way into eating it! Oops!):
Then, when we got back, we waited around for a few more hours, and before we knew it, we were welcoming a new member to our family! May I present…Sophie Rose:
Isn’t she just beautiful?
Proud Papa:
We had an instant connection:
…and then the water works started (mine, not hers!):
Well, okay…she had some too:
First-time Grandma:
What a great day! I’m so glad that we were able to come down and be here for the birth…it is such an emotional, once-in-a-lifetime experience. It really makes you appreciate family and the ones you love! I can’t wait for a lifetime of special moments with my new niece!

YEAH!!!! I remember the day my sister had her first child, my niece Aubrie. It was sooo emotional. I was worried for my sis (C-section), but then was so excited to finally meet Aubrie. So very glad you were able to be there!!

Oh my gosh! Congratulations!!! Surreal to see Katherine with Sophie! When they announced the birthweight, did your mom say, “Hey, that’d be a nice name for a convenience store, don’t ya think?” I miss and love you and your family! Enjoy

Mary Margaret, I got such a kick out of your remembering me saying that. And, actually, I did say it yesterday, as well. (That’s a line that just never gets old, don’t you think?) She is a beautiful baby, and we’re all very proud!!!

You’re going to be so surprised at how much this is going to change your family for the better. She’s a beautiful little girl. I was 7 lbs, 11 ounces too. I think it’s a pretty lucky weight.

Omg I clearly have become a true mother. I cry when I see other mom’s holding their baby for the first time. Tears of joy. Blessings to you and your family, Anna. And that’s awesome that she had a smooth birth. I hope nursing is off to a great start. I’m a lactation counselor & educator and tell her to get any help she needs if it’s not going smoothly
Wow, what a beautiful post!

CONGRATS!!! Oh, I bet it’s so exciting to be an aunt. I have a 13 year old brother, and no other siblings, so I won’t be an aunt for quite some time! Nick is already an uncle, but his nieces are already 7 and 11. I want to hold my niece or nephew in my arms, and love him or her to death, like my aunts and uncles do
Enjoy your new roll as an aunt!! She is so beautiful, and I LOVE her name!
